Meghan Markle was seen for the First Time After Spotify Deal end up Announcement
On Thursday, Spotify and Archewell Audio stated that they had “agreed to part ways” with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Meghan Markle has now been seen for the first time, after her Spotify contract was terminated.
Spotify and Archewell Audio, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s production company, as jointly announced on Thursday that they had “mutually agreed to part ways.”
The next day, Meghan, 41, was seen for the first time since the deal was canceled while on a phone conversation near to her home in California.
Meghan Markle Spotted After Spotify Deal Termination
The Meghan’s Archetypes podcast, which started as the top podcast in the US, UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada on Spotify’s worldwide charts upon introduction in August, was hosted by the service.
In the first season of the show, which produced 12 episodes, stars including Paris Hilton, Mariah Carey, and Serena Williams made cameos. The program was recognized at the 48th Annual Gracie Awards and got a 2022 People’s Choice Award.
Its termination coincides with Spotify’s statement on June 5 that the company was cutting off 200 workers, or 2% of its staff, as they “recently embarked on the next phase of our podcast strategy.” It was previously told that there is no connection between the latest layoffs and Spotify cutting ties with Meghan and Prince Harry.
Meghan said in the final episode that the podcast offered a platform that let her “feel seen.”
“I don’t know what I’d been expecting, but what’s come out of it for me has been illuminating. And also ironic. Because while this format is only audio and each week I use my voice, you can hear my thoughts without any visual, I feel seen,” she said.
Added Meghan: “I had never considered that in using my voice, that I would feel seen. But I do. And so much of the feedback throughout the season from women is that they feel seen as well. As we heard today, that men see our experience differently now, too. They see us. They see us more clearly.”
Bill Simmons, a Spotify CEO, responded to the news that Meghan and Harry were leaving the service when it became public.
Referring to the couple as “f—ing grifters” on Friday’s edition of The Bills Simmons Podcast, he stated, “I wish I had been involved in the ‘Megan and Harry leave Spotify’ negotiation. … That’s the podcast we should have launched with them. I gotta get drunk one night and tell the story of the Zoom I had with Harry to try and help him with a podcast idea. It’s one of my best stories.”
